Hydraulic hose fittings come in different thread, material, shapes, and sizes. We can choose to use reusable or permanent fittings to fabricate the hydraulic hose assemblies. If using permanent fittings, here are 8 steps to help you properly crimp hydraulic hose assembly.

1. Cutting the Hose:
First, determine the required length of your hose. Using a hose saw, cut it to this size.
Marking for Insertion: Use a hose insertion depth block to mark the depth at which the fitting should be inserted. This helps you know when the crimp fitting is properly seated.
2. Cleaning the Hose:
After cutting, clean the inside of the hose with a foam projectile. This step is crucial to remove any debris and prevent contamination or failure.
3. Setting Specifications:
Choose the appropriate crimp diameter for your hose assembly, based on the specific requirements of your project.
4. Selecting the Die:
Crimping dies vary depending on the hose and fitting type. Ensure you have the correct die set for your hose.
5. Placing the Hose in the Machine:
Insert the end of the hose into the crimping machine, passing it through the die until the hydraulic hose fitting is above the die. The top of the hose should be inside the fitting and not above the die.
6. Crimping the Hose:
Turn on the crimping machine. The machine compresses the die around the hose and fitting. Wait until the process completes without interfering.
7. Checking the Crimp Diameter:
After crimping, verify the diameter by checking the chalk mark you made earlier. If the mark has moved, the crimp may not be secure.
8. Capping the Assembly:
Finally, clean the hose again and cap both ends with plastic or heat shrink caps to protect the assembly.
