The Differences Between BSPT and BSPP Threads

When it comes to pipe threads, our clients often ask about the distinctions between BSPT, BSPP, G, and PF threads. Let’s figure out the difference.

    BSPT vs. BSPP Threads:

BSP, which stands for British Standard Pipe, which includes two varieties of threads: BSPP, which may be straight or parallel, and BSPT, which is a tapered thread. Both types have a thread pitch and an angle of 55 degrees.

    G vs. BSPP

Yes, the G thread is essentially the same as BSPP. They both represent the British Standard Pipe Parallel thread and adhere to the ISO standard denoted by the letter G. Hence, G thread and BSPP are interchangeable terms.

    BSPP vs. PF Threads:

The BSPP thread aligns with international standards such as ISO 228, DIN 259, and BS2779. It’s known as PF thread in Japan, following the JIS B0202 standard, and may also be referred to using the prefix G. Therefore, BSPP is equivalent to PF.

    Summary:

To summarize, the designations G, BSPP, BSPT, and PF all refer to types of BSP threads. While BSPP, G, and PF threads are identical, they are referred to by different notations in the UK and Japan.
